Number Plate Specifications
Class Specific Rights - Issued when Numeric number plates are sold by auction. Class Secific Rights allows the holder to re-allocate the number plate to another vehicle registered in the same name. Number plates may be sold and transferred to another individual upon payment of a transfer fee.
Plates will be issued with Class Specific Rights at auction for motor vehicles only from 1 January 2008.
Plates issued prior to January 1st 2008
Restricted Rights - To be eligible to apply for Restricted Rights, the numeric number plate must be the last number allocated to the vehicle and the owner is the last registered owner/operator of the vehicle. Restricted Rights may be granted to a new owner at the discretion of the Registrar where special circumstances apply i.e. to the beneficiary of a deceased estate. Once the vehicle is transferred to a new owner, the restricted rights are lost.
